How Can John Connor exist if he couldn'tt have been born?

At the end of the first terminator "Sarah Conner" fucks "Kyle Reese" making "John Connor". But John Conner is the one that sent Kyle Reese back in time to save Sarah Conner. so how did John Connor send Kyle back if he didn't exist.

It is a self consistent cycle of events. The older John Conner knew that if he didn't send Kyle into the past to save Sarah, then he wouldn't be able to exist. Therefore John sends Kyle into the past who crosses with Sarah to from baby John. Baby john then grows up learning that his dad is from the future and therefore realises he must send Kyle back into the past in order to exist.

This theory is consistent with current ideas on possible time travel.
